Volunteering with Parental childcare lets you a first hand experience in Uganda.
Our volunteers play an important role in our projects, providing much-needed support, assistance, and individual attention that is crucial for children’s education and development. As a volunteer for parental childcare, you will be participating in a meaningful way in projects that are valued by the community with whom we work and your work makes a difference!
We offer 7 volunteer placements at ago in mbale and it’s a fast-growing, hustling Ugandan city.

The volunteers are accommodated at our Volunteer House in Namawekwe, mission cell, which offers a convenient and safe accommodation, its your own desire to let us know whether you need to book a guest house for your perfect convenience, like couples. Our Volunteer Coordinator will be supporting you to settle in and help you with your new tasks at the project. Every week a volunteer meeting takes place to coordinate the work of the volunteers, the needs of the projects and to share experiences and stories.
You should be at least 18 years old and willing to stay at least three weeks with us.
Volunteers support us on the following projects:-

Cross-cultural Skills in a Globalized World, Work in New Environments, Continued Connections to different places In a local community by practicing local agricultural farming in gardens, ploughing using Oxen, Irrigation of coffee seedlings, grazing animals (caws, goats) and staying with elderly people, taking care of them and exchanging the local and traditional culture, Make New Friends. During school holidays we organize special projects for the kids, that volunteers can help with. These might be sports and arts projects, Computer lessons or extra tutoring in English.

While in the host country, one typically has the chance to thoroughly experience the culture of their host country. This occurs through direct application as a result of living with a family native to the region, going to learn as well as teaching with true residents (children) of the country, and through various other means. This finds themselves completely immersed within a different culture once they have arrived in their host countries, due to differences in the cuisine, architecture, familial tradition, and even the ways in which people carry out conversation! After having spent a significant amount of time within the host country.
This excellent learning opportunity of culture, visiting circumcision sites, to different types and tribal dances, Languages, and typically leaves Volunteers with better understanding for people of all sorts.
In addition to learning of the culture of the host country, many exchange volunteers become familiar with the ways of life of people all around the world through meeting other exchange volunteers. This is guaranteed to be amusing, and very interesting!
Meet new friends from all around the world: By being a volunteer, you will meet friends from all around the world. Your program will have meetings and trips for you where you get to meet other volunteers. It is so much fun when they get together because you have so much in common.
They will also meet tons of native friends in your host country that you will have a close relationship with for the rest of your life.
Children will be very much exited to meet Volunteers, have fun, and other children will have to touch and feel whether the white skin is the same like there's or its different.
Our culture is quite different and there are some things that we have to put into consideration, and we fill this has to be respected as we stay with families who are not familiar with drinking alcohol, smoking and drugs. Smoking cigarettes in public not allow in Uganda. Ladies should avoid wearing clothes that are transparent.

General Experience with children is an asset but not obligatory. Tell us your strengths, skills and interests. We have many projects and need different profiles, talents and competences. You should be at least 18 years old and willing to stay at least three and more weeks with us in Uganda. We are looking for motivated, flexible, adaptable, open-minded, communicative and pro-active volunteers who wish to immerse themselves into the African culture and traditions.
While volunteering at parental childcare, we ask that you try to keep an open mind to the new culture around you, as it is likely to be very different than your home country. We want all of our volunteers to feel welcome at home while living with us and we are happy to answer questions and offer advice on any issues. Uganda is a wonderful country, known for its friendly and hospitable people, and although each country has its difficulties, on the whole, Uganda is a wonderful place to live. We hope your volunteer experience with us will be a rewarding, enjoyable and full of memorable moments.
Volunteering Experience.
We have different kinds of assignments and would be more than happy for you to help with them! You know more than you are aware of and we can use everyone willing to spend time with us, our children and projects. Be creative and inspirational! If you have any preferences or wishes regarding your work – please let us know. Also tell us what you are interested in or if you have some specials skills or knowledge which could be beneficial to our projects. You will be part of an international team working with people from all over the world.
What can you do during the weekend?
There are plenty of exciting leisure activities around our Volunteer House. Whether you want to relax and go hiking in the mountain, or see wild animals on a safari, you will always find something to do your tasks as a volunteer may include(according to project needs and your wishes): Teaching English and assisting the children with their work , Teaching Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Sports, Songs, Games, Dance, and other fun learning activities Preparing lessons and activities in cooperation with the teachers Teaching IT/Computer skills during holidays, Helping with household and administrative duties, such as cooking, gardening and smaller building works, Participating in and/or planning field trips.
Acomondation.
We have self contained Rooms (4) to accommodate the volunteers with good environment, a veranda where they can seat and view the slopes of Mt Elgon and the Town. security available, the House is fenced all around with concrete wall, we have Dogs of the Neighbor that helps us and notify whoever comes at the Gate. they can enjoy with us the P.A. Coffee, local and natural delicious foods, Posho, Matooke (Bananas), Vegetables (Greens), Beans, Rice, and so many varieties of different foods, But not all the time because it will affect our school Budget due to the economic situation in the country and because of Covid 19 situation, volunteers can make some contribution towards means.

Destination to mbale
Once you land at Entebbe airport, board to Kampala in the bus park by public means, then you will board a bus YY Coaches to Mbale Bus Park where we will pick you up. We can arrange for private means if needed.

Our area offers plenty of natures wonders to discover, mountains to climb, Visit water fall on Mt Elgon and Mt Wanale, streets to roam. In the past we had awesome people from all countries, all ages and genders.
